Gammel Dansk is as Danish as the Danish word hygge.  Basically the word hygge can refer to anything pleasant and enjoyable especially if it creates a warm, friendly atmosphere, a sense of good cheer and well-being.  This may be the reason why Gammel Dansk has become Denmark's favourite bitter - it spreads hygge.  Here you can read about this Danish institution, how it got its special taste and why it has become Denmark's number one bitter.

The name Gammel Dansk means Old Danish. As the name implies, maintaining the old traditions and keeping to the original recipe are what Gammel Dansk is all about. But there are always lots of exciting new things going on at Gammel Dansk too.
